We’re taking the fight for socially responsible chocolate right to Hershey’s door. Today, students and activists are joining the International Labor Rights Forum, Green America, Equal Exchange, and other social justice organizations to rally in front of the Hershey Store in Times Square. Just days before World Day Against Child Labor, these concerned consumers are pushing Hershey to do more to stop child labor, forced labor and trafficking in its cocoa and start allowing third-party monitors to trace its supply chain. Even if you can't be in New York today, you can add your voice in support by calling Hershey’s customer relations line.
All you have to do is call 1-800-468-1714; choose option "0".
You can tell them something like this:
"Hi, my name is ___ and I'm calling from ___. I am a huge fan of [insert your favorite HERSHEY candy here]. I'm calling today because I want Hershey to raise the bar for responsible cocoa sourcing and commit to begin using Fair Trade Certified cocoa for my favorite chocolate. Ten years after Hershey committed to ending child labor, forced labor and trafficking in its cocoa, the abuses continue and Hershey needs to do more to end this exploitation. While I cannot be in New York City today, I support those who are rallying outside the Hershey store in Times Square. Thank you for your time!"
